Il primo appuntamento della stagione 2026 del TCR Europe, disputato il 21 e 22 marzo all’Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello, ha visto Marco Butti affrontare un fine settimana intenso e combattuto davanti al pubblico di casa.

Il pilota comasco, al volante della CUPRA León VZ TCR del team Monlau Motorsport, ha ottenuto il settimo tempo in qualifica, dimostrando fin da subito un buon potenziale sul tracciato toscano.

In Gara 1, Butti è stato protagonista di una rimonta significativa. Dopo essere stato coinvolto in un contatto alla partenza che lo ha relegato nelle ultime posizioni, è riuscito a recuperare terreno grazie a un ottimo ritmo gara, chiudendo in decima posizione e conquistando punti preziosi.

In Gara 2, Marco ha confermato la competitività mostrata durante il weekend, concludendo al settimo posto al termine di una corsa solida e combattuta.

Grazie ai risultati ottenuti al Mugello, Butti lascia il primo round della stagione occupando l’ottava posizione nella classifica Piloti.

“È stato un fine settimana molto impegnativo. Per diverse situazioni non siamo riusciti a capitalizzare i risultati che eravamo venuti a cercare. Abbiamo obiettivi molto alti e stiamo lavorando duramente insieme al team per poterli raggiungere.

Il livello della categoria è estremamente elevato e questo rende le gare tanto difficili quanto motivanti. Abbiamo comunque raccolto punti importanti e questo è fondamentale.

Ora ci concentreremo sul lavoro in vista del prossimo appuntamento in Belgio, a Spa, dove lo scorso anno siamo riusciti a conquistare la vittoria.

Il TCR Europe tornerà in pista dal 15 al 17 maggio sul circuito di Spa-Francorchamps, in Belgio, per il secondo round della stagione.

Marco Butti scores valuable points in the opening TCR Europe round at Mugello

The opening round of the 2026 TCR Europe season, held on March 21–22 at the Mugello International Circuit, saw Marco Butti tackle a demanding and competitive weekend in front of his home crowd.

The driver from Como, racing the CUPRA León VZ TCR with Monlau Motorsport, showed strong pace from the start, securing seventh place in qualifying.

In Race 1, Butti delivered an impressive recovery drive. After being involved in contact at the start that dropped him to the back of the field, he fought his way through the pack with excellent race pace to finish in tenth position, collecting valuable championship points.

In Race 2, Marco confirmed his competitiveness by securing a solid seventh-place finish after a consistent and hard-fought race.

With these results, Butti leaves Mugello in eighth position in the Drivers’ Championship standings, keeping his goals firmly in sight for the remainder of the season.

The TCR Europe championship will return on May 15–17 at Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium, for the second round of the season.

Marco Butti kicks off the 2026 TCR Europe season at Mugello

The 2026 TCR Europe season gets underway on March 21–22 at the Mugello Circuit, marking the start of a new
campaign for Marco Butti, who approaches this challenge with high expectations and the added motivation of
racing on home soil in Italy.
The Como-born driver, who has established himself as one of the leading contenders in the championship, heads
into the season opener aiming to fight for the title from the very first round. Following a strong pre-season
alongside Monlau Motorsport, Butti willlook to capitalize on his experience within the series and be a front-runner
from the very first on-track session.
Together with Monlau Motorsport, the reigning Drivers’ and Teams’ champions, Marco will be part of a three-car
line-up and will compete at the wheel of a CUPRA León VZ TCR.
